In hydroponics, water temperature control is extremely important. Plant roots need a high flow of oxygen to grow, and water can hold more oxygen at cooler temperatures. When the water exceeds 25°C, the roots can no longer work effectively, leading to wilting and the development of insect, fungal and disease infestations.

In most hydroponics systems, the ideal water temperature should be between 18 °C and 22 °C to ensure maximum efficiency and protection from pathogens. In indoor growing areas, however, the environment can become very warm due to artificial lighting, heaters or poor ventilation, especially during the hot season, leading to the problems mentioned above.
